Current sensors are also beneficial in reducing cable loading, enabling the monitoring of power output from substations and reducing outage times caused by local grid failures. Current sensors can monitor the current in power supply cables, and if the cable outlets are overloaded, these current sensors can transfer a portion of the load to other phases, or to newly laid cables, to protect the safe use and operation of the cables.
