As the key equipment of DC system, battery plays an important role in power plants, power supply offices, communication rooms, base stations, railway power supply substations, and UPS rooms of finance, chemical industry, enterprises and institutions. In order to ensure the reliable operation of the battery pack, it is particularly important to carry out standardized, reasonable, real and effective daily maintenance. When the battery is charged and discharged, the size of the charge and discharge current is strictly required, which requires a sensor that can accurately monitor the charge and discharge current of the battery. Hall current sensor is an important tool to meet this demand.
How Hall current sensors work
Hall current sensor is a kind of magnetic field sensor based on Hall effect. When the primary side current (IP) flows through a long wire, a magnetic field is generated around the wire, and the size of the magnetic field is proportional to the current flowing through the wire. The resulting magnetic field is gathered inside the magnetic ring, measured through a Hall element in the ring's air gap, and amplifies the output, whose output voltage (Vs) accurately reflects the primary side current (IP). In practical applications, Hall current sensors based on open-loop (direct discharge) principle are widely used because of their compact structure, low power consumption and low cost.
Application of Hall current sensor in battery monitoring system
Real-time monitoring of charge and discharge current: The Hall current sensor can monitor the charge and discharge current of the battery in real time to ensure that the current fluctuates within a safe range and prevent overcharge or overdischarge from causing damage to the battery.
Improve the monitoring accuracy: the Hall current sensor has the characteristics of wide measuring range, high accuracy, strong overload capacity, good linearity and strong anti-interference ability, which can accurately reflect the actual working state of the battery.
Support for remote monitoring: By combining with modern data acquisition and monitoring systems (such as DCS), Hall current sensors can remotely transmit battery charge and discharge current data to the control center to achieve remote monitoring and fault warning.
Reduce maintenance costs: Through real-time monitoring and data analysis, potential problems in battery packs can be detected in time, and maintenance or replacement can be carried out in advance, thereby avoiding fault expansion and reducing downtime, reducing maintenance costs.
Application example
Take an unattended industrial production platform as an example, which is equipped with A 20kV·A UPS device. However, since the platform was put into production operation, the UPS battery has repeatedly appeared high floating charge flow phenomenon. In order to solve this problem, the platform uses Hall current sensor to monitor the floating charge flow of the battery in real time. Once the current is abnormal, the remote monitoring system immediately issues an alarm, and the maintenance personnel can respond quickly and solve the problem, effectively avoiding battery damage and equipment failure caused by abnormal floating charging flow.
Hall current sensor plays an important role in battery monitoring system. Through real-time monitoring of battery charging and discharging current, monitoring accuracy and reliability are improved, remote monitoring and fault warning are supported, maintenance costs are reduced and reliable operation of battery sets is ensured.
